RESTORING DREAMS – High School Completion Program

Who are we and why are we different?

New Direction Resource Center offers a high school completion program where students work in a small group setting and a small adult-to-student ratio is maintained.  The program is designed to accept students from junior high level through high school.  We welcome students who may have dropped out of school and are able to meet their needs with a flexible program that encourages students to catch up in the educational process.  Students who have been expelled from the Anchorage School District are also encouraged to apply for acceptance.  New Direction also serves students who are not behind in their course work but desire a smaller, more personalized setting for their schooling experience.

In addition to academic support, a large volunteer base brings emotional support in the form of mentorship and building positive relationships.  Character development classes are taught and intervention is offered for substance abuse as well as skills for coping with family dynamics.  Enjoyable elective classes are offered through community volunteers such as auto mechanics, art, choir, rock climbing etc.  Basic job training is accessible to students through an onsite coffee shop.  Faith based life support skills are available through staff members and community leaders.
